Our Junior Fiction Staff Pick is The Gift by the award winning Australian author, Alison Croggon. This is a classic epic fantasy novel taking us to strange new places with vivid characters by our side. We follow Mearad as she embarks on a magical education with the bard Cadvan. Along the way she will discover a gift that will decide her destiny. This series has been well received by critics.

Our second recommendation is United as one: the Lorien legacies by Pittacus Lore. This is a very popular series but has Pittacus Lore maintained this success all the way up to this final novel in the series? Well the signs are good. John Smith is still battling alien invaders to help save the future of the earth. He has the support of his friends and the US military but most of all he is about to discover a new legacy within himself that could make all the difference. If you’ve loved this series and read all the books then no doubt you have been waiting for this. If not then we recommend reading I am Number Four where it all began.
