Welcome to our first reviews for Term One where we celebrate “Library Lovers’ Week.”

It seems appropriate to look at two romance novels, so without further ado our pick for Junior fiction is…..

This is the second book by up and coming author Jennifer Niven who dazzled us all with the raw, honest beauty of her first book, “All the bright places” which you can also find in our library. Set against the backdrop of high school, we meet a pair of unlikely lovers: Libby who struggles with her weight and Jack who has difficulty recognising faces. Perhaps it is their uniqueness among their peers that binds them together. We’ll leave it to you to decide if it adds or takes away from the love story in this book.

Our recommendation for Senior Readers is “Lisette’s Paris notebook.” This book has everything; including eccentric characters and exotic locations. What could be more romantic than the city of Paris after all? The central character, Lise, has come from Melbourne and found a place to stay with a clairvoyant landlady named Madame Christophe. Here, she transforms herself into Lisette. She is meant to be studying the language but quickly becomes more interested in the wildlife – namely boys! If you can relate to a character like Lisette, then you will thoroughly enjoy this book.
