Captain’s Journal – Book Week in review

The past week has been Book Week and this year’s theme was “Find your treasure.” For five days we sailed around archipelagos and explored islands in search of treasure. Read our captain’s journal and discover the strange delights we encountered along the way:

Day 1. The sea is calm and we have begun our quest of  finding  treasure in the MSM Library.  The crew have started a treasure hunt and are having fun in our photo booth.

Day 2. The sea remains calm and we are making good headway at MSM Library.  The crew is enthusiastic and entertained themselves through the Wii video game “Just Dance,” in the Library during lunch time.

Day 3. Today we sighted land and paused to resupply. While on land the crew divided into  8 teams battling in their annual Harry Potter Quiz. They discovered many Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

Even after 6 tie-break questions we could not separate two winning teams! Congratulations to our Senior sailors the Occamies who held on to their title from last year and our new joint champions the Bo Truckles!

Day 4. We continued to explore the island today with a rest break to watch the movie “The Pirates! Band of Misfits”.

The crew enjoyed the tale of an enthusiastic pirate captain and his crew sailing the high seas and dreaming of besting his bitter rivals in a quest to win the coveted title of “Pirate of the Year.”

Day 5. We prepared to set sail again and bid farewell to the island. To celebrate the crew’s excellent reading habits we held a special morning tea for our Top 20 borrowers.

Special mention must go to our top borrower, Lexi Agnew form Year 7C who has borrowed over 250 books so far this year!

The crew have assured us that “There is more treasure in books than in all the pirates’ loot on Treasure Island.” (Walt Disney)
